KK to quit BRS, join Cong on March 30!

It is now official. Veteran Bharat Rashtra Samithi secretary general and Rajya Sabha member K Kesava Rao has decided to resign from the party along with his daughter and Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi.

Both the father and daughter are going to join the Congress on March 30.

Kesava Rao, popularly known as KK, went to the farmhouse of BRS president and former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday evening and disclosed his decision.

Apparently, KCR fumed at Kesava Rao and abused him in strong words for ditching the BRS.

“We have given due respect and good positions in the party. How can you betray the party at this crucial stage?” KCR reportedly shouted at him.

But Kesava Rao explained to him patiently that he was at the fag end of his political life and he wanted to get back into the Congress with which he had been associated for several decades.

“Let me retire as a Congress leader,” he reportedly told him.

Speaking to reporters after meeting KCR, Kesava Rao said he, along with Vijayalakshmi, would be joining the Congress on March 30.

“We have discussed the internal affairs of the party, including the arrest of Kavitha. After explaining my stand on various issues, I told him that I will be quitting the party,” he said.

Kesava Rao, however, said he had all respect for KCR, who had given him due recognition in the party. “I thank the BRS leaders and cadre for their support to me all these days,” he said.

Vijayalakshmi said she had decided to join the BRS along with her father only because she could do justice to the Mayor post only if she was in the ruling party and resolve many issues plaguing the city.

Meanwhile, KK’s son Viplav Kumar said he would continue in the BRS and he had nothing do with the decision of his father and sister.
