Hyderabad as Union Territory: Is it possible?

Recently, KTR, the son of KCR hinted at the possibility of the NDA making Hyderabad, a union territory.

“Unless you elect at least 12 BRS MPs to Parliament, the Centre will make Hyderabad, a Union Territory”, warned KTR while campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections.

So, is there any substance to what KTR said? Is there a possibility of Hyderabad becoming a UT?

This is not the first time this theory is being bandied about. During the Telangana agitation, there was also a proposal by the Andhras to make Hyderabad, a UT.

Well, the fight for Telangana was really a fight for Hyderabad. Which politician would not want control over this cash cow?

Yet, making Hyderabad a UT would not be an easy task if the BRS or the Congress government is in power.

It would require a BJP government in Telangana which is not unlikely in future. Then Hyderabad can be made a UT by being announced as the second capital of India.

This would give BJP, a solid base down South as well to consolidate both parts of the country and tackle the menace of the Owaisi brothers or Islamic fundamentalism.

The people of Telangana will also not object if the UT proposal is guised in the form of Hyderabad becoming the second capital of the nation.

The proceedings will probably kick start, the day a BJP government is formed in Telangana.
