Explained: Has Pawan Kalyan Crossed His Limits?

Jana Sena Party president and Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan’s scathing attack on his cabinet colleague home minister Vangalapudi Anitha over the functioning of the police department clearly shows he has exceeded his limits as an alliance partner, analysts say.

While there is absolutely nothing wrong in his anguish as there have been a series of incidents of atrocities against women and breakdown of law and order at some places, analysts say Pawan Kalyan should have maintained restraint while expressing his views in public.

“He seems to have forgotten that he is part of the Nara Chandrababu Naidu cabinet and there is something called collective responsibility in the cabinet. If a minister has failed in his or her duty, all the other ministers are equally responsible for the failure,” an analyst said.

So, if Anitha has failed as a minister in running the police department and home ministry, it is also a failure of chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and also that of deputy CM Pawan Kayan. Readmore!

According to the analysts, if Pawan Kalyan has any grievance against the police department or the inept handling by Anitha, he should have straightaway called her up and talked to her.

“Or, he can raise the issue during the cabinet meetings or even take it up with the chief minister. But he should not openly castigate his own cabinet colleague in public and issue warning to her,” the analyst said.

The statement that he could take over the home portfolio also reflected badly on the coalition government, as it is like questioning the chief minister’s authority publicly.

“Perhaps, Pawan Kalyan is new to administration and that is why, he doesn’t know what to speak and what not in public,” the analyst added.
