'Kanguva' Release: A Tension Filled Dispute

The dispute between Asian Sunil, a powerful distributor in Nizam, and Mythri Movies, an emerging competitor, has intensified significantly.

Both parties are standing firm, with neither Shashi of Mythri nor Asian Sunil willing to back down or compromise.

If both sides were to meet and negotiate, the issue could likely be resolved. A bit of flexibility on either side could settle the matter, but the tension remains high.

The issue centers around the Moosapet Lakshmi Kala and Shashi Kala theaters. After Mythri took over Balanagar’s Vimal Theater, they no longer needed the Lakshmi Kala Complex. Gokul Theater also belongs to Mythri. Readmore!

With two screens in the same region, Mythri is not inclined to support Lakshmi Kala and Shashi Kala. The conflict arises because Lakshmi Kala and Shashi Kala, classified as multiplexes, require films to be screened on a revenue-sharing basis, which Mythri opposes, preferring a rental arrangement instead.

Asian Cinemas insists on a revenue-sharing model and, using their influence, has prevented other popular multiplex chains from screening the film on rental terms.

This standoff has escalated into an ego clash. However, Mythri Movies points out that with the upcoming release of Pushpa 2, a cordial understanding is needed, subtly hinting that they may use Pushpa 2 strategically against the Asian Group if necessary.

For years, Nizam had only two major distributor-exhibitors, but with three players now in the market, a battle for dominance has begun. Where this will lead remains uncertain.

Due to this dispute, there are currently no bookings for Kanguva in key Nizam locations, including Hyderabad.
