Less than six months after Nag Ashwin's sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD captivated audiences worldwide, the producers of the Prabhas-led blockbuster have shared an exciting update about its much-anticipated sequel, Kalki 2.
At the screening of Kalki during the ongoing International Film Festival of India (IFFI), producers Priyanka Dutt and Swapna Dutt revealed details about the sequel's development.
"Kalki 2 is underway. Pre-production is happening, and we’ve already shot 30-35% of the second part alongside the first," Swapna said while speaking to reporters on the red carpet.
Reports suggest that the remaining portions of Kalki 2 will begin filming around February-March next year.
However, when asked about this, Swapna clarified, "We haven’t locked the dates yet, but we’ll make an official announcement soon."
Adding to the excitement, Kalki 2 will mark Deepika Padukone’s return to film sets after welcoming her first child earlier this year.
Interestingly, Padukone was pregnant while shooting for Kalki, where she portrayed a mother.
"She will continue to play a mother in some parts of the sequel," Swapna revealed, expressing her excitement about the new chapter in Padukone's life.
The first installment of Kalki also featured legendary actors Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani, making the sequel one of the most eagerly awaited films.
Fans can expect more announcements about Kalki 2 in the coming months.
