Now that Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu officially announced the induction of mega brother Konidela Nagababu, Jana Sena Party general secretary, into the state cabinet, it is clear that he will be nominated to the state legislative council.
This has naturally created some kind of anxiety in the former MLA from Vijayawada (west) and prominent Kapu leader Vangaveeti Radhakrishna alias Radha, who was expecting the MLC seat sooner or later.
So, on Tuesday, Radha rushed to Undavalli residence of Naidu for a one-on-one meeting with the chief minister. Reports suggesting that Naidu has given Radha a key promise during the meeting.
The TDP chief is learnt to have told Radha not to worry about the MLC seat, as four seats are going to fall vacant soon, following the resignation of four YSRCP MLCs.
Deliberations are also underway to fill up these MLC seats, once the chairman decides on their resignations.
If approved, new appointments will be made, with Naidu and Pawan Kalyan finalizing the list. Naga Babu is likely to be reserved an MLC seat as part of the decision to induct him into the cabinet.
Some TDP leaders who missed out on Rajya Sabha seats are being appeased with MLC positions. Additionally, four more council seats are set to become vacant in March.
Vangaveeti Radha had been promised an MLC seat by the TDP in 2019 before the elections when he joined the party from the YSRCP and campaigned for them. However, the promise was unfulfilled as the TDP lost power.
Having supported the coalition in the 2024 elections, Radha is now reportedly assured one of the vacant council seats, making his appointment seem imminent.
