Veteran actor and producer Murali Mohan on Thursday opined that without an increase in ticket prices and additional shows, it is difficult to make high-quality movies in the Telugu film industry.
He shared his thoughts in an exclusive interview with a Telugu news channel, following a meeting between film industry representatives and Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy.
“It’s impossible to avoid high expenses if we aim to make world-class films, which require huge investments. The production costs need to be recovered within the first week of release,” Murali Mohan said.
He said additional shows are common in other film industries too. If additional shows cannot be arranged, producers cannot invest confidently.
“We brought the issues of the film industry to the attention of the Telangana chief minister, who listened to our concerns very positively,” he said.
Murali Mohan said the film makers cannot assess a movie properly if the film unit does not attend the first show.
“The incident that occurred at Sandhya Theatre is unfortunate, and we regret it. It should not happen again,” he said
The senior actor-producer said very soon, a team from Tollywood would also meet with the Andhra Pradesh government.
“Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu suggested to me that Pawan Kalyan should address the issue of the Nandi Awards,” he said.
Mural Mohan added that the government recognition is very important for an artist. For an artist, recognition is more significant than money, he said.
