SLBC tunnel: Teams located dead bodies?

It appears the rescue teams working to trace the trapped workers in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel made a significant progress on Friday.

Information from the spot has revealed that the teams were able to locate the presence of bodies of the trapped individuals.

According to these reports, the rescue teams used for the first time ground-penetrating radar technology to scan the tunnel and it reportedly revealed “five soft spots” in the damaged sections near the tunnel boring machine (TBM).

Rescue teams discovered the bodies at a depth of approximately 3 meters. They believe that the trapped workers might be located in these areas. However, officials clarified that the soft spots could be human bodies or other materials.  Readmore!

Excavation work will be carried out at these locations to determine the nature of the findings. An official update on the missing workers' status is expected soon.

The collapse occurred on February 22, 2025, during ongoing project work.

Despite extensive rescue efforts involving national and international agencies, including the use of gas cutters to dismantle obstructive parts of the tunnel boring machine, they could not so far retrieve the bodies or find them alive.
