Borugadda gives slip, cops launch manhunt

Notorious rowdy-sheeter and YSR Congress party sympathiser Borugadda Anil Kumar, who has been facing prosecution for posting obscene and offensive comments against Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and others on social media, has gone absconding, evading police custody.

The police launched a manhunt after Borugadda disappeared following his release on bail, which he secured using a fraudulent medical certificate.

Though the Andhra Pradesh High Court rejected his bail plea in January, the same court later granted him bail, citing his mother’s ill health.

According to police sources, Borugadda submitted a fake medical certificate to extend his bail. Once the extension was granted, he disappeared. A large-scale manhunt is now underway across Guntur and other Telugu states to track him down. Readmore!

Borugadda, a Guntur native, claimed to be an aide of former Union Minister Ramdas Athawale and served as the Andhra Pradesh state president of the Republican Party of India.

He often referred to Jagan Mohan Reddy as “Anna” (elder brother) and projected himself as a Pulivendula native to align with the YSRCP.

As a self-proclaimed loyalist of Jagan, Borugadda allegedly used abusive language against opposition leaders on social media and TV debates.

He also allegedly threatened individuals who spoke against Jagan, claiming he would eliminate them.

Reports indicate that he made inappropriate remarks about leaders like Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, and Lokesh, and even verbally abused women from opposition parties.

It has raised serious concerns about how Borugadda misled the High Court and secured a bail extension without proper verification of his medical certificate.

The government is now investigating the role of the public prosecutor who argued the case, as well as the authenticity of the medical documents.

Police suspect that Borugadda has fled to another state. Authorities are actively monitoring his past locations, tracking his phone signals, and investigating his interactions with family members.

It has been discovered that he changed his phone number but remains in contact with his relatives, who are also reportedly untraceable.

To prevent him from fleeing the country, a lookout notice has already been issued. Officials believe it is only a matter of time before Borugadda is apprehended as surveillance and tracking efforts intensify.
