SS Rajamouli's RRR is one of the most globally acclaimed Indian films, even securing an Oscar. The film featured Telugu stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles.
For a long time, fans have debated who among the two was the primary lead or the 'main hero' of RRR.
Recently, a movie enthusiast took to X (formerly Twitter) and posed the question to Grok, the platform's AI chatbot, in an attempt to settle the debate.
Grok, known for its candid and straightforward responses, provided an interesting take on the matter.
When asked who the main hero of RRR was, the bot replied: “In RRR, Komaram Bheem (N.T. Rama Rao Jr.) appears to be the main hero, driven by his mission to rescue Malli, while Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) plays a pivotal co-lead with his undercover revolutionary role. Both fight against British rule, but Bheem’s quest sets the plot in motion, whereas Raju’s layered character adds depth. Some view them as equal leads, yet Bheem’s arc feels more central. Rajamouli, however, balances them well, making it difficult to designate either as a secondary character. Raju’s hidden conflict enriches the dual-hero narrative.”
Meanwhile, in 2023, writer Vijayendra Prasad—who is also SS Rajamouli’s father—hinted at a sequel to RRR. He confirmed that Jr NTR and Ram Charan would reprise their roles, though RRR 2 might not continue the same storyline. Instead, it is expected to explore another historical chapter from the Telugu states during the pre-Independence era.
In an interview with a Telugu channel, Vijayendra Prasad revealed: “We are planning a sequel to RRR with Ram Charan and NTR. The film will be directed either by SS Rajamouli or someone under his supervision.”
Rajamouli had previously acknowledged RRR 2 in 2022 during an event in Chicago, saying: “My father is the story writer for all my films. We have discussed RRR 2 briefly, and he is currently working on the story.”
RRR is a fictional tale inspired by two legendary revolutionaries and their journey before they took up arms for their country in the 1920s.
The Telugu-language period action drama was produced by D.V.V. Danayya under DVV Entertainments and released on March 25, 2022.
