How US Auto Tariffs Impact Indian Firms?

US President Donald Trump has imposed a 25% tariff on auto imports, affecting Indian companies like Tata Motors, Eicher Motors, Sona BLW, and Samvardhana Motherson.

While Tata Motors does not directly export to the US, its subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) will be impacted as the US is a key market, accounting for 22% of its sales.

Eicher Motors, known for Royal Enfield motorcycles, may face challenges due to its strong presence in the US.

Samvardhana Motherson, which supplies Tesla and Ford, is better positioned due to its manufacturing units in the US and Europe. Readmore!

Sona BLW, deriving 66% of its revenue from the US and Europe, is mitigating risks by expanding into Asian markets.

India exported $21.2 billion worth of auto components in FY24, with the US and Europe being major markets.

Other key exporters, including Bharat Forge and Suprajit Engineering, may also face challenges from the tariffs.
