After a long period of silence, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Y S Sharmila on Thursday once again targeted her cousin, YSR Congress Party MP from Kadapa, Y S Avinash Reddy, in connection with the murder of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy.
Speaking to reporters, Sharmila alleged that Avinash Reddy, who is an accused in the case and currently out on bail, has been intimidating witnesses.
She expressed concern over the suspicious deaths of several key witnesses in the Viveka murder case, suggesting possible foul play.
Sharmila voiced fears that Viveka’s daughter, Dr Narreddy Sunitha, may now be under threat.
“Viveka's daughter has two children. Her life is in danger. There is a real fear that the accused in this case might harm her. The recent developments I’ve learned about have deeply disturbed me,” she said.
She noted that the state government’s affidavit seeking the cancellation of Avinash Reddy’s bail includes several serious allegations.
According to the affidavit, Avinash allegedly summoned investigating officers and threatened them. It also claims he coerced officials into signing false reports.
“As long as Avinash remains out on bail, justice cannot be served to Sunitha. Despite threats and pressure on witnesses, his bail has not been revoked,” Sharmila stated.
She also accused those involved in the case of running a smear campaign against Sunitha.
“A false narrative was spread, claiming that Viveka was killed by Sunitha and her husband. But the truth is, at the time of the murder, Avinash Reddy was present at the crime scene,” she alleged.
