Andhra CID teams in Delhi to arrest Mithun Reddy?

If the apprehensions of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) are to be believed, senior party leader and Rajampet MP P Mithun Reddy could be arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police at any time on Saturday in connection with the alleged liquor scam.

According to YSRCP sources, teams from the Crime Investigation Department (CID) arrived in New Delhi on Saturday morning, reportedly to arrest Mithun Reddy.

This development comes just a day after the CID informed the Andhra Pradesh High Court that the investigation into the alleged liquor policy scam was still in its early stages.

The CID had also clearly stated that Mithun Reddy was not named as an accused in the First Information Report (FIR). Based on this, the High Court dismissed his petition for anticipatory bail. Readmore!

However, the very next day, the CID’s move to New Delhi has raised serious questions, the YSRCP said in a statement.

“The way the CID is handling this case clearly reflects political pressure and vendetta,” the party alleged.

YSRCP leaders claim that the investigation has been biased and controversial from the beginning. CID officers have allegedly coerced individuals into giving false statements and pressured them to name specific people.

“These fabricated statements are now being used to justify raids and attempted arrests,” party members said. They suspect that the CID is trying to implicate Mithun Reddy based on a statement made by former AP Beverages Corporation Ltd (APBCL) Managing Director D. Vasudeva Reddy, who was recently relieved from his duties and repatriated to his parent department, Indian Railways.

YSRCP leaders further alleged that CID officials recently conducted raids at multiple residences in Hyderabad, during which they reportedly threatened women and warned them they could be taken to police stations.

“MP Mithun Reddy has now approached the Supreme Court seeking protection and justice from this political harassment,” party sources confirmed.
