Jagan To Drop Sajjala From 'coterie'?

YSR Congress Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is said to have decided to reconnect directly with the people in the coming days, is also reportedly considering a major overhaul of the party’s organizational structure.

One of the most consistent criticisms against Jagan in recent years has been his reliance on a close circle of leaders and his blind trust in their advice.

This was even pointed out by former YSRCP general secretary and ex-Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy after his exit from the party.

According to party sources, Jagan is now planning to revamp the inner circle of leaders around him. With district-level appointments already completed, he is preparing to make significant changes in the responsibilities of top party functionaries. Readmore!

As part of this restructuring, Jagan is reportedly contemplating removing senior leader and current state coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy from his influential role and assigning him a new, less central responsibility.

In his place, Jagan is said to be considering appointing Satish Reddy, a party leader from Pulivendula, as the new general secretary and state coordinator of party affairs. Sajjala may be shifted to a role overseeing affiliated organizations.

Until now, Sajjala and Y V Subba Reddy were considered Jagan’s most trusted aides. However, in recent months, several party leaders have openly criticized Sajjala for allegedly misguiding Jagan by withholding ground-level realities.

Some leaders accused Sajjala of creating a protective barrier around Jagan, isolating him from the broader leadership and contributing to the growing disconnect between the party and the public. These concerns intensified after the party’s electoral defeat.

Even Sajjala’s son has reportedly drawn criticism from within the party. Although Sajjala’s influence has waned since the party lost power, he continues to be active in party meetings and organizational matters.

Jagan, who has consistently emphasized the importance of the party cadre, is believed to have decided that a leadership change is necessary to realign the party with grassroots support.

Satish Reddy, who had a long association with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and contested elections against members of the YSR family in Pulivendula, later joined the YSRCP and became a staunch supporter of Jagan. Since then, he has been vocal in defending Jagan and actively involved in party activities.

Jagan is expected to summon both Sajjala and Satish Reddy for a meeting next week at the party headquarters in Tadepalli.

During this meeting, he is likely to announce not only leadership changes but also new appointments for vacant district president positions.
