Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu recently shared that she turned down nearly 15 brand endorsements last year — sacrificing several crores in the process — because they no longer aligned with her personal values.
In an interview with Foodpharmer, Samantha reflected on how her perception of success has evolved over the years.
During her 20s, she believed success was measured by the number of film projects and endorsement deals. At the time, she proudly represented several major multinational brands. But with time, that perspective changed.
"Looking back, I realise how wrong I was," Samantha said. "I was almost forced to introspect on my choices and knew I had to follow what felt right. Today, I feel my younger self owes an apology to my older self for all the nonsense — and that’s why I urge my younger followers not to assume they’re invincible in their 20s."
She explained that the endorsements she once took up were made without fully understanding their impact.
"Those deals were a long time ago. Just last year, I said no to about 15 brands, walking away from crores of rupees. Now, before I agree to any endorsement, I consult with three doctors to ensure the product is safe and responsible."
Samantha was diagnosed with myositis, an autoimmune condition, in 2022 — a turning point that deepened her focus on health and conscious living.
On the work front, she will next be seen in Rakt Brahmand: The Bloody Kingdom and Maa Inti Bangaram.
