Senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai has strongly criticized Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in a recent video on his YouTube channel.
In the video, Sardesai accused Naidu of prioritizing political gain over political principles, labeling him an "opportunistic secularist" who changes his stance to suit his interests.
Summarizing the key points of the video: Sardesai said that in the 2019 elections, Naidu hoped to come to power without relying on the BJP. At the time, he even called for saving the nation from the BJP and launched sharp attacks on Narendra Modi — at one point even calling him a terrorist.
Sardesai asserted that Naidu’s primary concern has always been his political survival, and that he uses secularism merely as a tool to serve his personal political goals.
He further added that Naidu exhibits one kind of secularism when aligned with the BJP and a completely different version when not. His version of secularism conveniently shifts based on his political needs.
Sardesai remarked that history will remember Naidu as an opportunistic secularist.
He also pointed out Naidu’s support for the controversial Waqf Bill, using it as another example of political convenience.
Sardesai concluded by saying that Naidu is someone who will change colors as needed to stay relevant in politics and that his secularism has always been questionable.
According to Sardesai, Naidu lacks true ideological commitment and is driven purely by political necessity.
