In response to USA tariffs imposed by Donald Trump, China is encouraging direct-to-consumer sales of luxury goods from its manufacturers at drastically reduced prices.
Chinese suppliers are now openly marketing high-quality versions of products typically sold under major luxury brands like Birkin, Louis Vuitton, and Lululemon often without logos at a fraction of the cost.
Videos on TikTok and X showcase these manufacturers exposing the true production costs of high end items, highlighting that most of the price comes from branding rather than materials or craftsmanship.
For example, a Birkin bag retailing at $34,000 reportedly costs only $1,400 to produce. Users point out that even after import tariffs and shipping, buying directly from Chinese manufacturers remains cheaper than retail. Some suppliers even offer free global shipping and import duty coverage.
This strategy not only reveals the massive profit margins of global luxury brands but also questions the sustainability of the USA and China trade war.
Many consumers are now reconsidering their purchasing habits, suggesting direct from China shopping may soon be the norm as tariffs drive prices even higher in American stores.
