Those who are observing how AI is penetrating every field across the world are beginning to realize the potential threat it poses to jobs. Yet, many people remain indifferent to these changes, assuming that nothing drastic will happen. They dismiss those raising alarms as mere pessimists.
But the reality is far more serious. Today, many software engineers and other high-earning professionals are investing in luxury villas and gated communities, spending anywhere between â¹3 crore to â¹10 crore. However, these could turn into dead investments once AI significantly takes over. When people begin losing jobs, there may no longer be anyone to afford high rents or purchase these properties.
What will continue to hold value, even after AI takes over many income sources, is agriculture. Food will always be essential. Sadly, the UP government has already announced that 30,000 acres of fertile land have been acquired to build roads.
The same is happening in Andhra Pradesh, where the current government is planning to acquire another 40,000 acres of fertile land in the Amaravati region for wide roads. While these infrastructure projects may seem justified for now, the long-term consequences are worrying.
In the end, agriculture might be the only sector to truly survive in a world where AI dominates most industries. That’s why many economists are now advising people to invest in fertile land or farmhouses instead of luxury homes. Being able to grow food and sustain oneself will become a priceless asset in a world where jobs may vanish across all fields.
The demand for food will always remain strong, and if people lose their jobs, governments might have to step in to ensure basic sustenance. In this context, purchasing agricultural land is a meaningful and prudent step. These lands might even become more expensive than gated villas in the years to come.
Agriculture may well be the only survivable business, and investing in it as much as possible is perhaps the greatest legacy this generation can leave for their children in an AI-driven future.
