Nayanthara made her South Indian film debut with the 2003 Malayalam film Manassinakkare, directed by Sathyan Anthikkad. Since then, her filmography and success have only grown stronger.
Her role in Chandramukhi opposite Rajinikanth solidified her superstar status in the South, making her one of the most bankable female leads.
Naturally, her Bollywood debut alongside Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan drew significant attention.
An old interview of Nayanthara with Kairali TV has recently resurfaced, where she opened up about her personal boundaries in the industry.
“I maintain only professional relationships with my colleagues,” she said. “Friendship is something I value deeply, and I reserve it for those who truly know me. There are only two or three people in my life who I’d call real friends — those who’d show up if I needed anything.”
She explained that forming close bonds in the film industry is difficult due to the nature of the work. “We don’t work with the same people all the time. Once a shoot ends, we part ways and only see each other at events.”
Addressing industry competition, she added, “It exists everywhere — in Malayalam, Bollywood, and among both heroes and heroines — but it’s not healthy. The real goal should be to compete with ourselves. Everyone gets different roles and scripts, so there’s no point comparing. If we focus on self-improvement, we can grow with every performance — even by 1 percent.”
On the professional front, Nayanthara was last seen in Test, co-starring R Madhavan and Siddharth.
