Ex-Andhra intelligence chief PSR Anjaneyulu arrested

Within hours of the Andhra Pradesh police arresting Raj Kasireddy, former Information Technology advisor to the former Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government, in connection with the alleged liquor scam, senior IPS officer and former state intelligence chief P S R Anjaneyulu was also taken into custody by the police.

According to reports, Anjaneyulu, who was one of the close confidants of Jagan Mohan Reddy during his regime, was arrested by the police in Hyderabad on Tuesday morning, in connection with the alleged harassment of Mumbai-based actress Kadambari Jethwani.

Anjaneyulu is currently under suspension in the same case. He is also an accused in the third-degree torture case related to Andhra Pradesh assembly deputy speaker Raghurama Krishnam Raju.

Until now, Anjaneyulu has not filed a bail petition in court. AP police are expected to bring him to Vijayawada later in the day. Readmore!

Sources, however, said Jethwani harassment case is just a cover-up for his arrest, but the police have obtained concrete evidence of Anjaneyulu’s involvement, albeit indirectly, in the liquor scam.

He is said to be giving advices to the accused in the liquor scam on how to get out of the case and how to evade answers in the police investigation.

He was also providing information to the accused to escape from the arrest.

The police are learnt to have obtained his call data records, showing his conversation with the liquor scam accused.

With regard to the Kadambari Jethwani case, it was PSR Anjaneyulu who had played a proactive role in sending a team of senior cops to Mumbai to arrest the actress along with her family members — a move that sparked controversy at the time.

The arrest was linked to a case she had filed against a prominent businessman. Allegations state that she was pressured to withdraw the case.

PSR Anjaneyulu, Commissioner Kanthi Rana Tata, and officer Vishal Gunni have been accused of playing a role in this matter.

After the YSRCP lost in the recent general elections and the new coalition government came to power, the case is now being investigated seriously.
