Why was Duvvada sacked from YSRCP?

The abrupt suspension of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MLC Duvvada Srinivas for alleged violation of party discipline has triggered widespread discussion in political circles.

Many political analysts are questioning why YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy acted so late, despite longstanding allegations and controversies surrounding Srinivas.

During his publicized family disputes, when he separated from his wife and children, the party took no stand.

Even when Srinivas openly began a relationship with his partner Madhuri — frequently appearing with her in YouTube videos and television shows, performing dances, duets, and even participating in cooking shows — the YSRCP leadership remained silent. Readmore!

“Their romantic displays at temples and other public places became sensational across Andhra Pradesh, drawing both media attention and online trolling. Yet, the party chose to turn a blind eye,” an analyst noted.

Many believe that suspending Duvvada earlier would have helped improve the party’s image, and particularly Jagan’s.

Instead, Jagan’s silence during the time when Duvvada’s actions were reportedly harming the party's reputation is being criticized.

The inaction draws parallels with the case of MLC Anantha Babu, who was accused in the murder of his driver Subrahmanyam.

Despite the gravity of the case, Jagan neither removed him from the MLC position nor expelled him from the party, which many believe cost the party dearly.

Regarding the current Duvvada episode, some party members now say, "Better late than never."

One party leader commented, “At least now, the suspension shows that Jagan is trying to set things right and clean up the party.”

However, the timing of the suspension has raised eyebrows, especially now that the public has largely accepted and normalized Duvvada and Madhuri’s relationship.

Political observers suspect that there’s more behind the decision than just personal controversies.

Sources reveal that the immediate trigger for the suspension was a recent TV interview where Duvvada, joined by Madhuri, praised Telugu Desam Party (TDP) general secretary Nara Lokesh.

In the interview, he described Lokesh as the most capable leader in the TDP and said he deserves to be elevated to the post of Deputy Chief Minister — if not Chief Minister — alongside Pawan Kalyan.

These comments reportedly angered senior YSRCP leaders, especially from North Andhra, who brought the matter to Jagan’s attention, ultimately leading to Duvvada Srinivas’s suspension from the party.
