Kasireddy made big investments with liquor money?

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Andhra Pradesh police, investigating the alleged liquor scam that took place during the previous YSR Congress Party regime between 2019 and 2024, has revealed that nearly ₹3,200 crore was collected as kickbacks from liquor companies and distilleries.

The SIT has identified Kasireddy Rajasekhar Reddy, also known as Raj Kessireddy, as the kingpin behind the entire liquor scam.

Kasireddy, who served as the former Information Technology advisor to the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy government, was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days by the court on Wednesday.

According to the SIT, Kasireddy was responsible for the discontinuation of popular liquor brands and the promotion of lesser-known brands manufactured by favored companies, collecting around ₹50 crore to ₹60 crore per month as kickbacks — amounting to approximately ₹3,200 crore for the liquor syndicate and himself. Highly placed sources revealed that Kessireddy amassed significant wealth through the liquor syndicate and made substantial investments in properties across the Telugu states, particularly in and around Hyderabad.

Available information indicates that Kasireddy purchased 80 acres of agricultural land in Machanapalli and Damarlapalli villages of Shabad mandal in Rangareddy district, Telangana, under his name, his mother K Subhashini’s name, and in the name of Eshanvi Infra Projects Pvt Ltd.

He also purchased 4.15 acres of prime land in Survey No. 32 at Gachibowli and gave it for development under the name Pryde Infracon LLP.

Additionally, he acquired 326 square yards of land from Sahithi Infra Projects in the name of Eshanvi Infra Projects Pvt Ltd, also located in Gachibowli.

Raj Kasireddy is further reported to have entered into an agreement with Phoenix Company to purchase 56 acres of land at Survey No. 63 in Guttala Begumpet, near Banjara Hills.

He also purchased 10 acres of land in Vattinagulapalli village of Gandipet, Hyderabad, and 108.43 square yards of a plot in his name in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.

“All these purchases were made between 2020 and 2023. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Kessireddy is believed to have acquired even more properties with the ill-gotten money. One can only imagine the magnitude of the wealth he generated through kickbacks from liquor companies,” sources said.
