Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Amaravati on May 2, and the Andhra Pradesh government is preparing extensively for the high-profile event.
As per official sources, nearly Rs 300 crore is being spent on various arrangements related to the visit.
The spending includes road repairs, beautification works around key routes, enhanced lighting across major stretches, and arrangements for a large-scale public meeting. A significant portion is also allocated for media coverage and publicity.
The government has justified the expenditure as necessary to present the state capital in a dignified manner during the Prime Minister’s visit.
However, the hefty cost has sparked debate among political circles and the public, with critics questioning the allocation at a time when the state is facing financial challenges.
Despite the concerns, authorities are pushing ahead with the arrangements, aiming to ensure a grand and smooth reception for the Prime Minister.
