Indo-Pak war casts shadow on Miss World event

The ongoing war-like tensions between India and Pakistan appear to be casting a shadow over the Miss World event, with both the organizers and the Telangana state government facing growing pressure to ensure the event proceeds smoothly.

According to sources, the government has enforced heightened security measures for all international participants. However, priority is currently being given to securing Hyderabad’s strategic establishments and ensuring public safety.

“Providing round-the-clock security for three weeks during the pageant has become a major challenge under the current circumstances. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is reportedly in touch with the Centre and will follow its directions,” said a source.

The Miss World organization is said to be assessing the risks of continuing the event, consulting international stakeholders, and maintaining regular communication with the Telangana government. Readmore!

Contestants from 116 countries were scheduled to attend the event. As of Thursday evening, 109 had arrived, according to official sources.

Sponsors and international media are also expected to reach Hyderabad, although changes in flight routes and cancellations could disrupt participation and scheduling.

As per the itinerary, after the March 10 inauguration, contestants were to tour key heritage and cultural sites from March 12 onwards, including Buddhavanam in Nagarjuna Sagar, Charminar, Laad Bazaar, Thousand Pillar Temple, Ramappa Temple, Yadagirigutta, Pochampally, and Mahabubnagar.

“Ensuring tight security for contestants at all these locations in the current climate is a daunting task for the police,” sources added.
