The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Andhra Pradesh police, which is probing the multi-crore liquor scam that allegedly took place during the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy regime, is reported to have obtained crucial scientific evidence indicating that illicit funds were siphoned off for election purposes.
According to media reports, the SIT has submitted "digital and technical evidence" in court that reportedly confirms the involvement of YSRCP leader and former MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy in the illegal movement and concealment of bribe money.
In its report to the court, the SIT presented extensive forensic analysis, including call detail records (CDRs), mobile tower locations, device activity, and tower dumps.
This data confirms that Chevireddy made repeated visits to Flat No. 312 in Landmark Apartments, located near Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s residence in Tadepalli.
The SIT alleges that this flat served as a "cash stock point" for illicit election funds.
Chevireddy is said to have met Pranoy Prakash — a close associate of liquor syndicate kingpin Raj Kesireddy — at the apartment on multiple occasions between mid-2023 and early 2024.
These meetings reportedly coincided with large-scale movement of unaccounted money ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Investigators found that Chevireddy’s associates — including his gunman Giri, aide Balaji Yadav, driver Ramraju, and others — repeatedly transported crores of unaccounted cash from Hyderabad to Tirupati.
These movements were corroborated through mobile tower tracking and toll plaza CCTV footage.
In one notable instance, â¹8.34 crore in cash was seized at the Garikapadu checkpost on May 9 while being transported in a truck. Telecom data now reportedly links this seizure directly to Chevireddy’s network.
The SIT maintains that the combination of call data records, eyewitness accounts, toll booth logs, and CCTV surveillance forms a consistent and compelling narrative of Chevireddy’s key role in managing the YSRCP-linked liquor money trail.
It remains to be seen how the court will respond after reviewing the submitted evidence.
