Producer Breaks Silence on 'Game Changer' Flop

Ram Charan’s much-hyped political action drama Game Changer, directed by Shankar Shanmugam, released on January 10, 2025, but turned out to be a major disappointment at the box office.

Despite its staggering budget of ₹450 crore, the film failed to meet expectations both critically and commercially.

In a recent GreatAndhra interview, producer Shirish candidly spoke about the financial and emotional toll the film took on their production house.

“Game Changer was a huge flop. We genuinely believed we wouldn’t recover. But then Sankranthi Vasthunam changed everything for us,” he said. “In just four days, our fate reversed. Without that movie, we don’t know where we’d be.” Readmore!

Interestingly, Shirish also revealed that neither Ram Charan nor director Shankar reached out to them post-release.

“No, Ram Charan didn’t even call us after the film bombed. But I don’t hold it against anyone. It was our decision to make the film, and we take responsibility,” he added.

He clarified that there was no expectation or request for Ram Charan to return any portion of his fee to help mitigate the losses.

“That’s not how we operate. We don’t ask actors for refunds. And we don’t sever ties over failures,” he affirmed.

Despite the setbacks, Shirish expressed openness to collaborating with Ram Charan again in the future, if the right project comes along.

While he didn’t disclose the exact loss incurred from Game Changer, he confirmed that the blockbuster success of Sankranthi Vasthunam helped them recover about 60–70% of the damage.
