Former MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi and his wife met YSR Congress Party chief and former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday, shortly after Vamsi was released from jail.
Vamsi had spent around 140 days in prison after being arrested in connection with multiple cases — reportedly 11 in total — highlighting the intense targeting he faced under the current government.
During YSRCP’s previous tenure, Vamsi had made controversial remarks against Chandrababu Naidu’s wife Bhuvaneshwari, for which he later apologized. However, the TDP leadership did not accept his apology.
As anticipated, once the coalition came to power, Vamsi became a key target. Case after case and a series of PT (prisoner transit) warrants left him struggling to catch his breath.
Jagan had previously expressed solidarity with Vamsi during his imprisonment, criticizing the government for deliberately keeping him behind bars and assuring that the YSRCP would support his family in every way.
Eventually, Vamsi's legal battle paid off, as the government’s attempt to get his bail cancelled in two cases was rejected by the Supreme Court.
Vamsi walked out of Vijayawada jail on Wednesday, and the next day, he and his wife Pankaja Sri visited Jagan’s residence.
According to YSRCP sources, they discussed the legal challenges, his time in jail, and future political plans.
Vamsi is reportedly preparing to become politically active again in Gannavaram and is expected to move forward under Jagan’s guidance regarding his future course of action.
