Pawan wrote letter to Naidu against Amaravati 2.0?

If reports from Amaravati are to be believed, the Telugu Desam Party-led coalition government in Andhra Pradesh has all but dropped its plan to acquire an additional 42,000 acres of land from farmers around the current capital region as part of the second phase of Amaravati’s development.

According to sources, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu faced rare and strong opposition from within his own cabinet regarding the proposed land pooling.

Several ministers reportedly warned him that proceeding with the plan could lead to serious political backlash, especially given the growing resistance from farmers.

Apart from Naidu and Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana, no other cabinet member expressed support for Amaravati 2.0, particularly because opposition is emerging even from villages considered TDP strongholds. Readmore!

While initial reports suggested that Jana Sena Party president and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, along with cabinet colleague Nadendla Manohar, raised objections during the cabinet meeting, newer information indicates that Pawan Kalyan had, in fact, written a letter to Naidu a few days prior.

In the letter, he urged the Chief Minister to reconsider the second-phase land pooling in light of widespread public resistance voiced during recent grama sabhas.

Pawan reportedly advised that the government should prioritize completing the first phase of Amaravati over the next three years to build public trust.

“A rushed decision on additional land pooling could have adverse political consequences,” he is believed to have warned.

Following similar concerns raised by several other ministers, the cabinet decided to refer the matter to a Group of Ministers currently overseeing land allotments in the Amaravati capital region. The group has been tasked with engaging with farmers and attempting to build consensus.

Sources say Naidu appeared visibly irritated as minister after minister voiced opposition to Amaravati 2.0. While Narayana attempted to defend the plan, it reportedly failed to shift the sentiment within the cabinet.
