Congress uses BC card to support Raja Singh

For the Congress party in Telangana, which has been championing the cause of Backward Classes (BCs) by announcing 42% reservations for them in local body elections, the acceptance of Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh’s resignation by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has provided fresh political ammunition.

On Friday, BJP National President J.P. Nadda officially accepted Raja Singh’s resignation, which was originally submitted to former BJP state president G. Kishan Reddy on June 30.

Responding to the development on social media platform X, Raja Singh clarified that his decision to leave the BJP was not driven by personal ambition or the pursuit of any post.

He said he had joined the party solely to protect Hindutva and Sanatan Dharma. Readmore!

“Exactly 11 years ago, I joined the Bharatiya Janata Party to serve the people, the nation, and to defend Hindutva,” he said, reaffirming his commitment to continue fighting for the rights of the Hindu community till his last breath.

He also acknowledged the trust the BJP had placed in him, giving him the MLA ticket from Goshamahal for three consecutive terms.

However, he added, “I may not be able to express to Delhi the pain felt by thousands of BJP workers in Telangana who have been working tirelessly to bring the party to power.”

Reacting sharply to the resignation, Telangana BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar accused the BJP of sidelining backward classes.

He claimed that Raja Singh’s resignation was accepted swiftly because he belongs to a weaker section of society.

“Whether it’s removing Bandi Sanjay from the state president post without valid reasons or now accepting Raja Singh’s resignation, it’s evident that the BJP ignores leaders from backward communities,” Ponnam said.

He further alleged that the BJP has distanced itself from BCs by consistently appointing leaders from upper castes to key positions.

“Raja Singh’s resignation and its acceptance clearly show the BJP’s anti-BC stance,” he added.
