Liquor scam: BJP predicts Jagan's arrest soon

As the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Andhra Pradesh intensifies its probe into the alleged liquor scam that took place during the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) regime, the political atmosphere in the state is heating up.

Several senior YSRCP leaders, including Rajampet MP Peddireddy Mithun Reddy and former MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, have already been arrested in connection with the case, while others remain under investigation.

The latest buzz in political circles is whether YSRCP chief and former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will be the next to face arrest.

Although the SIT mentioned Jagan in the charge sheet recently filed in court, he has not yet been named as an accused. Readmore!

“But there are indications that the SIT will file another charge sheet soon, and Jagan will be included in it. He is likely to be arrested and remanded before that,” an official said.

The case took a new turn on Wednesday morning when the SIT seized ₹11 crore in cash from a farmhouse in Ranga Reddy district. The raid was based on information provided by Varun, listed as Accused No. 40 in the case and an associate of Raj Kesireddy.

The cash was recovered from Sulochana Farmhouse in Shamshabad mandal, owned by one Vijayender Reddy. The SIT is currently investigating his links to the YSRCP.

Amid these developments, BJP state president P V N. Madhav made sensational claims, stating that Jagan’s arrest in the liquor scam is inevitable and that "no one can stop it."

Madhav alleged that Jagan had committed multiple irregularities and would have to face the consequences. He added that Jagan was maintaining a brave front to prevent demoralising the YSRCP cadre.

His remarks — especially since the BJP is part of the ruling alliance — have triggered intense political debate.
