Kalyani Priyadarshan’s superhero spectacle Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra has stormed the overseas box office, crossing the coveted $10 million (â¹91 crore) mark in just 11 days.
Directed by Dominic Arun and produced by Dulquer Salmaan, the film has become a rare Mollywood title to achieve such international dominance.
With this feat, Lokah now stands alongside Mohanlal’s mega-blockbusters L2: Empuraan and Thudarum, making 2025 a landmark year for Malayalam cinema.
Remarkably, before this year not a single Malayalam film had ever touched the $10 million overseas milestone.
Today, Mohanlal’s Empuraan leads the pack with $13.75 million (â¹124.50 crore), followed by Thudarum with $10.50 million (â¹94 crore), and Lokah with $10.30 million (â¹91 crore) in just 11 days.
Made on a modest budget of â¹30 crore, Lokah has captured audiences worldwide with its mythological fantasy storyline and Kalyani’s standout performance, both of which have earned glowing reviews.
At the worldwide box office, the film has already grossed over â¹185 crore in 11 days and will cross the â¹200 crore milestone within days.
Trade experts believe it has a real shot at not only overtaking Mohanlal’s records but also becoming the first-ever â¹300 crore Malayalam blockbuster.
