Why KCR, KTR silent on vulgar campaign against Kavitha?

Ever since Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha resigned from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and her MLC seat a day after she was suspended from the party for her anti-party activities, there has been a vulgar and abusive comments against her on social media, obviously affiliated to the BRS.

This has kicked up a big debate in the political and media circles as to why the BRS leadership is encouraging such a cheap and abusive campaign against her.

“After all, Kavitha is the daughter of a respected leader like K Chandrasekhar Rao and sister of a popular leader like K T Rama Rao. How can she be targeted like that?” an analyst argued.

What is more intriguing is the silence of KCR and KTR. One wonders why KTR is not prevailing upon his followers to stop all kinds of falsehoods and character assassination being directed at his sister Kavitha. Readmore!

“Why doesn’t he speak up against the personal allegations being made against her?” the analyst asked.

KCR and KTR might disagree with Kavitha’s political stand and they have every right to condemn it.

“Kavitha may have political ambitions and may have been distanced by her own family from the party, but she remains a daughter and a sister,” the analyst said.

But the attack on her goes beyond politics. How can the family allow such a “dirty campaign” without condemning it? Critics are asking.

Questions are also being raised whether official social media groups aligned to KCR and KTR are themselves fuelling the campaign, as Kavitha had once alleged.

“Kavitha may be linked to allegations in the liquor scam or seen as over-ambitious. But the smear campaign damages the entire KCR family’s image. Even when party leaders made offensive remarks about her, the leadership did not intervene,” the analyst pointed out.

When actresses like Rakul Preet Singh or Samantha were mentioned in gossip, KTR had called it personal attacks. Then why not take the same stance when Kavitha faces character assassination?

The social media campaigners are also bringing old personal matters into their dirty talk, such as a broken marriage alliance with Harish Rao’s brother years ago. They are now being dug up for TV debates — despite the fact that Kavitha today is a mother of two sons.

“Politics may divide, but blood ties must be respected. That alone is true family leadership,” the analyst added.
