Former YSR Congress party MP V Vijay Sai Reddy, who resigned from the party as well as his Rajya Sabha membership, is said to be making last ditch attempt to retain the residential quarters allotted to him when he was holding the post.
Though he relinquished his Rajya Sabha seat in January itself, he has still been continuing in the same MP quarters allotted to him at Tughlak Lane, New Delhi, using his clout in the Delhi power corridors.
On August 13, Sai Reddy wrote to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat to grant him further extension of his stay in the government accommodation in the MP quarters. However, the authorities have refused to grant him any more extension.
In a letter written to Sai Reddy, a senior official said the competent authority had not found it possible to grant you extension for retention of the Bungalow No. 3, Tughlak Lane, New Delhi, beyond 24.08.2025.
“Therefore, the allotment of the said bungalow in your name stands cancelled with effect from 25.08.2025 and your stay therein from the said date onwards, is unauthorized,” the official said.
She said accordingly, damage charges, as notified vide Parliamentary Bulletin Part-11 dated 27th April, 2022, are liable to be paid, for the period of unauthorised stay (till the actual date of vacation).
The official asked Sai Reddy to kindly hand over the vacant possession of the said bungalow to the concerned CPWD Enquiry Office, without any delay, failing which eviction proceedings may be initiated.
Sources said despite receiving the eviction notice, Sai Reddy has not vacated the bungalow till date. He is said to be still lobbying with the BJP bosses in Delhi through his contacts, particularly Sujana Chowdary.
But one wonders why Sai Reddy needs such a posh accommodation in New Delhi, as he is no more an MP.
“At the time of resigning from the party and the MP seat, Sai Reddy declared that he would keep away from politics and would confine to agriculture,” a YSRCP leader pointed out.
In fact, Sai Reddy even posted on his social media handle pictures of him in his agriculture farm.
“If that is the case, he should confine to his agriculture fields. Why does he need to go to Delhi in the first place?” he asked.
Assuming that Sai Reddy has his own works in Delhi once in a while, he can as well go and stay in a hotel for a day or two and come back.
“In any case, he doesn’t need an MP quarter with all posh facilities, unless he has intentions of returning to politics and join the BJP or some other party,” the YSRCP leader said.
