'Sankranthiki Vastunnam' Aimed At Oscar: What A Joke!

It is known that films applied for the Oscars usually carry some artistic appeal in their content.

Here are the Telugu films that were submitted for the upcoming Oscars, but all of them were rejected.

Pushpa 2, the story of a smuggler with shades similar to Narcos, was on the list.

Then comes Kannappa, based on the legendary devotee from Indian history.  Readmore!

Another film, Gandhi Thatha Chettu, speaks about the spirit of Gandhiji in an art-film style.

There was also Kuberaa, a story about a beggar.

Each of these films had at least some artistic or thematic element to justify their application for the Oscars.

But what raised eyebrows was the inclusion of Sankranthiki Vastunnam. Other than being a box-office hit, how could this film even dream of standing in line for the Oscars? With what dare was it submitted? This has become the biggest talking point.

Meanwhile, the Hindi film Homebound, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, has been officially selected as India’s entry for the Oscars.

All five Telugu films that were considered failed to make it to the final list, but the shocker for many remains the appearance of Sankranthiki Vastunnam in the submissions.

Many say that more than the comedy shown in the film Sankranthiki Vastunnam, the bigger comedy is its daring attempt to stand in the line for the Oscars.
