Jagan dishes out routine talk at much-hyped meet

The much-hyped extended executive committee meeting of the YSR Congress party convened by former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at Tadepalli on Wednesday turned out to be yet another routine lecture by the party president.

The meeting, which was attended by YSRCP MLAs, MLCs, coordinators of parliamentary and assembly constituencies, district presidents and regional coordinators, was expected to come out with a concrete action plan on how to go about against the Telugu Desam Party-led coalition government.

There was a talk that Jagan might make a sensational announcement at the meeting – like en masse resignation of the party MLAs in protest against the denial of the leader of opposition status in the assembly and also to generate a kind of war-like atmosphere in the state.

“At least, there were expectations that Jagan will throw a challenge to the ruling coalition to get the MLAs disqualified for not attending the assembly session; thereby cornering the government. But nothing of that sort has happened,” a party observer said. Readmore!

Instead, Jagan spent most of the time in narrating the failures of the coalition government in implementing Super Six guarantees and its controversial decisions like privatisation of medical colleges, urea shortage, corruption, failure of law and order, harassment of the YSRCP workers etc.

“He has been raising these issues at regular press conferences and his party leaders are also highlighting the same every day. So, there was nothing new in what Jagan has said at the party meeting today,” the observer said.

The only interesting part of Jagan’s meeting was the launch of Digital Book on the official party platform to stand with YSRCP workers and leaders who have faced injustice and political victimization.

“Through this initiative, anyone can directly upload details of the injustice they have faced, ensuring that every incident is recorded and preserved in a permanent digital diary. In addition to the website, an IVRS call facility has been set up through 040-49171718, allowing workers and victims to register their grievances over the phone,” Jagan said.
