All of a sudden, negative propaganda has started against Kantara Chapter 1. On social media, some people began arguing that since Kannada audiences don’t support Telugu films, why should we support theirs?
The truth is, Telugu films have always done well in Karnataka, regardless of whether Kannada people “encourage” them or not.
Some individuals are simply using language sentiments as an excuse to discourage support for Kannada films, and this became louder now for Kantara Chapter 1.
Meanwhile, overseas ticket pricing also sparked controversy. Different rates were set for the Hindi dubbed version and the Telugu dubbed version. Some people called this unfair and even gave boycott calls.
But the fact remains that every film distributor decides pricing based on market expectations. For example, War 2 is also a dubbed film, yet it had premium ticket prices and even price hikes. If people want to protest against such practices, they should do so universally and not selectively.
So why is Kantara Chapter 1 alone being targeted? Is there a hidden agenda? This is the question lingering.
The timing is also suspicious; OG is running with steady collections, and buyers are hoping to make the most out of the Dasara season. With Kantara Chapter 1 releasing at the same time, are some groups deliberately targeting it?
Or is it because Rishab Shetty is known to be close to NTR, leading to unnecessary politics? Or could there be some other reason behind this selective negativity?
Whatever the reason, targeting a film’s business is unfair and reflects the narrow-mindedness of those responsible.
