AP: This Weekend Crucial for OG

Pawan Kalyan’s They Call Him OG has emerged as the highest-grossing film of his career.

Not only did it set a personal record for the actor, but it also became the highest-grossing Telugu film of the year, surpassing Venkatesh’s Sankranthiki Vasthunam.

The film performed exceptionally well overseas, grossing over $5.3 million (₹47 crore) in North America alone. Other international territories also contributed significantly to the film’s overall gross.

In the domestic market, the film registered strong numbers in the Nizam region during its first weekend, which boosted its total gross. Readmore!

However, when individual territories are analyzed, the picture is different. To achieve break-even status, the film needs to sustain strong collections for at least another week.

In Andhra Pradesh in particular, OG has not yet reached the break-even mark in several areas. Due to the pre-release hype, the producer sold the film at high prices.

While the premium rates for premieres and first weekend shows helped generate solid numbers early on, collections dipped soon after and have not rebounded.

With Kantara: Chapter 1 now entering the competition, OG faces a tougher path to meeting its financial targets in Andhra Pradesh.

This weekend will be crucial in determining whether it can recover and inch closer to break-even.
