Pawan Kalyan’s "OG" turned out to be the biggest hit of his career, coming close to surpassing the worldwide gross of "Sankranthiki Vasthunam."
However, despite the massive box office performance, the film couldn’t achieve breakeven status in the Telugu states, as distributors had acquired the rights for exceptionally high prices.
"OG" generated tremendous hype before its release and continued to enjoy positive word-of-mouth afterward. Yet, the distributors struggled to recover their investment, remaining far from the breakeven point.
In this context, trade circles are abuzz that distributors are likely to offer much lower prices for Pawan Kalyan’s next outing, Ustaad Bhagat Singh, directed by Harish Shankar.
Although this film reunites the blockbuster "Gabbar Singh" duo after more than a decade, and expectations are high, it might not create the same frenzy as "OG" did — particularly since it’s essentially a remake of a Tamil film.
Therefore, Mythri Movie Makers may have to brace for significantly lower offers from local distributors.
