In a major setback to the Congress party, senior leader Anjan Kumar Yadav is reportedly preparing to contest the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election as an independent candidate, after being denied the party ticket.
According to sources, Yadav, who had been expecting the Congress nomination for the high-profile constituency, was disappointed with the party high command’s decision to field another candidate – Naveen Yadav.
Following this development, he is said to have resolved to enter the fray independently, signalling growing discontent within the party’s local ranks.
Political observers view his move as a significant blow to the Congress, as Yadav is a known figure with a strong support base in the Hyderabad region, particularly among backward community voters.
His independent candidature could split the Congress vote bank and potentially alter the electoral dynamics in what is already shaping up to be a prestige battle for the state’s major political parties.
