It is known that Thaman is riding high in the Telugu film music scene with back-to-back blockbusters.
Even Anirudh is at the top of his game. So why, all of a sudden, has Harshavardhan Rameshwar bagged two big films?
Yes, composer Harshavardhan Rameshwar, acclaimed for his powerful scores in Arjun Reddy and Animal, is set to enter Telugu cinema’s big league with collaborations with top directors Trivikram Srinivas and Puri Jagannadh.
He joins Puri’s upcoming film Puri Sethupathi (tentatively titled Slumdog), starring Vijay Sethupathi, Samyuktha Menon, Tabu and Duniya Vijay.
Simultaneously, Harshavardhan is composing for Trivikram’s new family entertainer with Venkatesh and Srinidhi Shetty, targeting a 2026 release.
With these high-profile projects, Harshavardhan is poised to become one of Telugu cinema’s leading music directors.
Inside sources say that although many filmmakers prefer Thaman or Anirudh, it seems these top composers are demanding complete audio rights of the film instead of remuneration from the producers.
While that might appear to be a fair deal, since the producer need not invest in music, not all producers are comfortable with it. Many still wish to earn a share from the music rights.
That’s reportedly why Harshavardhan Rameshwar has been roped in, as he isn’t as demanding as the top composers and has an impressive track record, especially with background scores like Animal.
While this is one version from industry insiders, another source claims the reason is different.
According to them, both Thaman and Anirudh are already packed with multiple projects and filmmakers who want to complete their films on schedule are seeking a composer who can dedicate full time to their projects. That’s how Harshavardhan entered the picture.
Whatever the reason, be it financial considerations or time constraints, Harshavardhan Rameshwar has bagged two massive opportunities.
If he delivers, he could become a strong competitor to the leading composers ruling the Telugu film industry today.
