Midhun Reddy gets court nod to attend UN meet

In a big relief to YSR Congress party MP P V Midhun Reddy, one of the prime accused in the sensational liquor scam, a special court for ACB cases in Vijayawada granted him permission to travel to New York in the US to attend the United Nations General Assembly meeting later this month.

The ACB court allowed Midhun Reddy to visit the US from October 23 to November 4, subject to a set of conditions aimed at ensuring his return and continued cooperation in the case he is facing.

As part of the conditions, the court directed that the MP must submit two land documents worth Rs 50,000 each as surety to the court.

He has also been directed to furnish details of his residence in New York, including the full address, along with his email ID and mobile contact numbers before leaving the country. Readmore!

The court instructed Midhun Reddy to submit copies of his flight tickets and, upon his return, hand over his passport to SIT officials without delay.

These measures are intended to ensure transparency regarding his travel and compliance with judicial directives.

Midhun Reddy, an MP from Rajampet, is among the key accused in a case being investigated by a special investigation team (SIT).

His foreign travel request was allowed after the court was satisfied with the reasons cited and the conditions imposed for monitoring his movements.

Midhun Reddy will join the team, led by Bharatiya Janata Party MP and former Andhra Pradesh BJP president Daggubati Purandeswari, to represent India at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), commencing on October 27 in New York.

Interestingly, no member from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), an important alliance partner of the BJP, is part of the delegation, while Midhun Reddy is the only MP from YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) to be included.

Purandeswari, who represents the BJP from Andhra Pradesh, has been appointed as the leader of the Indian delegation, and sources say that no other MP from the state was considered due to her leadership role.
