James Cameron’s “Avatar” films have always been massive blockbusters in the Telugu states, with both the first and second installments performing on par with top Telugu releases.
The third part, titled Avatar: Fire and Ash, is set to hit theaters this December.
Whenever a James Cameron film releases, it dominates the box office, leaving little room for competition.
As a result, Telugu producers are steering clear of the third week of December, when “Avatar 3” releases in India on December 19.
To avoid a clash, Balakrishna’s “Akhanda 2” is scheduled to release on December 5, allowing a two-week window to maximize its run.
Meanwhile, Roshan Meka’s Champion and Gunasekhar’s Euphoria have locked December 25 (Christmas) for release.
No major Telugu release is planned in the week leading up to Avatar 3, effectively giving the Hollywood spectacle a free run at the box office.
“Avatar 3” is expected to shatter new records globally and continue Cameron’s legacy of setting benchmarks in cinematic scale and box-office performance.
