Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju’s Dude, which started strong at the Indian box office, is now seeing sharper drops than expected in its second week.
Despite a promising opening, the film’s theatrical run seems to be slowing down faster than predicted.
After a solid pre-release buzz, this Kollywood romantic comedy opened to impressive numbers and enjoyed a strong first weekend thanks to Diwali holidays. During its opening week, the film collected â¹56.5 crore net, showing good hold initially.
However, post-Diwali, collections began to slide. On Day 8, Dude earned an estimated â¹1.16 crore, marking Pradeep’s lowest second Friday.
For comparison, his debut film Love Today collected â¹2.96 crore on its second Friday, while Dragon brought in â¹4.7 crore. That means Dude fell around 61% below Love Today’s second Friday figure.
So far, Dude has collected an estimated â¹57.66 crore net (Tamil and Telugu) in India, with a gross total of â¹68.03 crore.
While the film is a commercial success, it may struggle to cross the â¹75 crore net mark if the current trend continues.
Directed by Keerthiswaran, the film stars Pradeep Ranganathan, Mamitha Baiju, R. Sarathkumar, Rohini, and Hridhu Haroon, and was released on October 17.
