Mass Jathara: Rajendra Prasad Trolled After Flop

Before every film release, we often hear actors and filmmakers making big statements; some playful, some emotional.

But rarely does anyone cross the line with a bold declaration that could backfire.

Veteran actor Rajendra Prasad has now found himself in such a situation after a comment he made during the promotions of Mass Jathara.

During the film’s pre-release promotions, Rajendra Prasad confidently declared, “If you don’t get shocked after watching this movie, I’ll quit the film industry.” Readmore!

His statement instantly grabbed attention. Now that the film is out, audiences are asking; “Where’s the shock?”

Rajendra Prasad had added, “I won’t say anything about this movie. Watch it in theatres, and then we’ll see who stands where — you or me.”

Viewers are now taking his challenge literally, and their reactions haven’t been kind.

Just a few days ago, producer Naga Vamsi faced heavy trolling after making an overconfident statement at the War 2 event. Now, Rajendra Prasad seems to be following the same path.

Reports suggest that Ravi Teja, who plays the lead in Mass Jathara, even got certain scenes rewritten and reshot to give Rajendra Prasad a stronger role.

But after watching the film, audiences feel that his character neither entertains nor fits the tone of the movie — in fact, many found it irritating at times.

As a result, Rajendra Prasad’s big claim has now backfired, and trolls are having a field day on social media.

Meanwhile, Mass Jathara is struggling at the box office. Even on its first Sunday; typically the most crucial day for collections; the film saw no significant advance bookings in Hyderabad, with ticket sales not even crossing 5%.

If this is the situation on a weekend, trade experts fear what the numbers might look like starting Monday.

Rajendra Prasad’s emotional statement might have been made to boost morale, but with the film underperforming, his “I’ll leave the industry” line has now turned into a meme.
