Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja, once the undisputed face of commercial masala cinema in Tollywood, is going through one of the toughest phases of his career.
After scoring back-to-back hits with Dhamaka and Waltair Veerayya, the actor’s box office streak has sharply declined; with Ravanasura, Tiger Nageswara Rao, Eagle, and Mr. Bachchan all ending up as disappointments.
Now, his latest release Mass Jathara seems to be continuing that unfortunate trend.
According to early estimates, Mass Jathara opened to a poor start, collecting around â¹6.65 crore (India net) from its first-day run, including Friday night premieres.
On Sunday, the film reportedly earned just â¹3 crore (India net), registering an overall 26.12% Telugu occupancy across theatres on November 2, 2025.
Despite promising to bring back Ravi Teja’s trademark energy and vintage entertainment style, Mass Jathara has failed to strike a chord with audiences.
Trade circles believe that the film’s routine story, outdated screenplay, and overused mass formula contributed to its weak performance.
If the current trend continues, Mass Jathara could mark Ravi Teja’s fifth consecutive flop in just two years - a worrying streak for a star who once dominated the mass circuit.
Industry observers suggest that Ravi Teja may need to rethink his script choices, collaborate with fresh filmmakers, and steer away from formulaic entertainers designed only for a niche segment of his fan base.
However, there’s still hope for the Mass Maharaja. Ravi Teja is next gearing up for a family entertainer directed by Kishore Tirumala, tentatively titled Bhakta Mahaseyalaku Vignapthi.
The film, slated for Sankranti 2026, is being viewed as a make-or-break comeback project for the actor; one that could help him reconnect with the wider audience and reclaim his box office glory.
