Stop bhajan, guide Jagan, Mekapati tells YCP leaders

Senior YSR Congress party leader and former Lok Sabha member from Nellore parliamentary constituency Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, who is known for his straight talk without mincing words, has expressed view that party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had lost power due to certain leaders around him, who misguided him.

Speaking to reporters at his residence on the occasion of the death anniversary of his son Gautam Reddy on Sunday, Mekapati said Jagan was carried away by the “bhajan” by these leaders who did not guide him properly on the ground reality.

“Jagan should make proper introspection on why the people had rejected him in the last elections. He should analyse the reasons and ensure that the mistakes committed by the party would not get repeated, so that he can win back the people’s confidence,” Mekapati said.

Though he did not name Telugu Desam Party president and present chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Mekapati also felt that Jagan should not have resorted to witch-hunt of the opposition leader and got him jailed. Readmore!

“Now, the present government is also doing the same thing of targeting the opposition leaders. The people are watching everything. They will give appropriate verdict in 2029 elections,” he said.

The former MP said Jagan should have a bunch of intellectuals and good leaders around him, who can advise him and guide him properly.

There are many such leaders who do not hesitate to point out mistakes in his functioning and tell him why he should not repeat the mistakes, he said.

“Unfortunately, the leaders around Jagan are misguiding him by praising him without pointing out where the party is going wrong. They are only doing harm to the party. Jagan should not believe them and should accept the mistakes pointed out to him, so that he can correct them,” Mekapati said.
