Vangaveeti Ranga has a special place in Andhra Pradesh politics. People from the Kapu community see him as a hero.
Along with Kapus, many others also proudly call themselves Ranga followers.
Just like he had strong support, there was equal criticism against him too. His murder during a hunger strike created huge shock.
After Ranga was killed during NTR’s rule, the Kapu community strongly turned against the TDP.
Over the years, things have changed. Ranga’s son Radhakrishna, considered his political heir, is officially with the TDP. But he has not reached the level that Ranga’s fans expected.
Meanwhile, Ranga’s nephew Narendra is actively working in the YSRCP, saying he wants to continue Ranga’s ideals.
Now, Ranga’s daughter Asha Kiran has come into the spotlight. Today she paid tribute at Ranga’s statue on Bandar Road.
There was talk that she would announce her political entry. But she clearly said, “Not now. I will speak later,” ending all speculation for the moment.
Asha Kiran said there is a gap between Radhakrishna and the Ranga followers’ group, and her aim is to bring everyone together.
She mentioned that she was busy with family responsibilities all these years, but her words showed she is interested in politics.
Earlier, there were rumours she would join YSRCP before the elections, but that didn’t happen.
Now once again, discussions about her political entry have begun. Since elections are not near, she avoided speaking about entering politics.
Ranga’s followers say she may choose a party other than TDP if she eventually steps into politics.
