Young Actress Slams Media's Declined Culture

Janhvi Kapoor spoke to a media house on the loss of her mother, Sridevi, and explained how the media made her grief even harder.

She said she held back her emotions at the time because she feared her pain would be turned into sensational headings.

Calling today’s coverage “voyeuristic,” Janhvi added that people’s curiosity about private tragedies has grown worse.

She believes the problem is not only with journalists, but also with audiences who encourage such content through clicks, comments and shares.

Janhvi said that earlier there was at least some hesitation before crossing personal boundaries, but now the race for views has caused a “loss of morality.”

She finds it depressing that people take interest in others’ suffering. Admitting she still feels sadness and anger over how her mother’s death was treated.
