Despite producers receiving vocal “support” from industry peers on social media, the Akhanda 2 issue remains unresolved even as Monday progresses.
According to insiders, Eros International is standing firm on its demands and is unwilling to compromise until its dues are settled.
Additionally, the production house is awaiting the full judgment copy regarding the halt on the film’s release.
Only after obtaining this document can the Akhanda 2 makers update the court about any potential “out-of-court” settlement.
Rumors have been circulating that producer D Suresh Babu demanded his pending payments from Eros and, in exchange, Eros agreed to withdraw its legal case against Akhanda 2’s producers.
However, industry insiders deny this, stating that Eros has clearly informed mediators that at least â¹20 crore must be paid upfront — out of the total â¹28 crore dues and accrued interest — before any compromise can be discussed.
With the situation still unresolved, the planned December 12 release is now completely off the table. The coming days will be crucial to see whether both parties can arrive at a final agreement to revive the film’s release plans.
Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna and directed by Boyapati Sreenu, has been grappling with financial troubles, not limited to this project alone.
The production house reportedly borrowed heavily across multiple films, leading to a massive outstanding liability that has now come back to haunt the team.
