Notorious rowdy-sheeter and political activist Borugadda Anil Kumar, who had to be in jail for nearly 240 days in multiple cases related to making wild allegations against the Telugu Desam Party-led coalition leaders, has claimed that he has the complete backing of YSR Congress party headed by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
In a latest interview to a digital channel, Borugadda publicly claimed that Jagan had stood by him firmly during his legal troubles and ensured his release from jail.
“It was Jagan who supported me. If not for him, I would still be in jail,” he said.
He went on to add that a team of lawyers working for Jagan got him bail.
“These YSRCP lawyers worked only for two people in Andhra Pradesh—myself and former state intelligence chief P S R Anjaneyulu,” he said.
Anil Kumar had repeatedly used derogatory and abusive language against former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, their families, and even women, during the previous government’s tenure.
The situation escalated further after videos of Anil Kumar creating a disturbance at the YSRCP central office recently also went viral, adding fuel to public outrage.
As Anil Kumar’s interview went viral on social media, the YSRCP quickly issued a categorical clarification stating that the party has no association whatsoever with Borugadda Anil Kumar, despite his repeated attempts to portray himself as a party supporter.
“There is absolutely no connection between the YSRCP and Borugadda Anil Kumar. We strongly refute ongoing claims in the media and social platforms that he is associated with the party. The comments made by him in television interviews or social media have nothing to do with us,” the party said in an official release.
Hailing from Guntur district, Anil Kumar has multiple criminal cases registered against him, leading police to categorise him as a rowdy-sheeter.
He has been arrested several times earlier, and each time he appeared before courts, he claimed that Jagan Mohan Reddy supported him.
These claims, coupled with his presence outside courts and police stations, had created a public perception that he enjoyed political patronage from the YSRCP.
Now that the party disowned him, it remains to be seen Borugadda Anil will respond to this development.
